AGHORESHWAR BHAGWAN RAMJI

AGHOR INITIATION

As a child, Baba Bhagwan travelled on foot to pilgrimage like Gaya and Puri. He started devoting more and more time to prayers, chanting and meditation. The child, 'Bhagwan', left home at the age of seven. At the age of fourteen he came to Varanasi and wanted to go to the Kashi-Vishwanath temple. As he stood on the road, uncertain of where to go, an old woman led him to the temple and had him perform the puja as he wanted to. The two then came out of the temple and started walking on the road. As per direction of the old lady Baba went to Krim Kund Sthal and met Mahanth Baba Rajeshwar Ram Ji. This was the turning point in young Bhagwan's life. He took Aghor Diksha from Baba Rajeshwar Ram Ji and was named "Bhagwan Ram". One day while Baba was lying in a semi conscious state, a celestial person appeared and put his feet along with the wooden sandals on Baba's chest and started reciting a mantra. Baba started repeating this mantra. He did not forget the mantra and recited it whole life. After six months Baba left the Krim Kund Sthal.

SELF REALISATION

Baba spent many years in sadhana. He wandered as a sadhu from place to place; he undertook various practices until his self realization while he was still in his early teens. In course of visit from one place to another, Baba went to Prayag Kumbh Mela in 1954. There he met an old lady who gave him some food and clothes. It is told that she was Devi Ji. He attained self-realisation in his early teens (age of fourteen-fifteen) after undergoing severe penance of three days and three nights sitting on the bank of Ganga, in the cremation ground of Mehraura.

People of the area started respecting and paying reverence to Parampujya Aghoreshwar Bhagwan Ram. The poor and the suffering came to him for His blessings. Many were relieved of their suffering just by being in his presence. The devotees never had to express their feelings to Parampujya Aghoreshwar. Words were not necessary in his presence and even without a word being spoken the people realized that they were benefited.

FIRST ASHRAM

Baba used to penance in a dry pond near the village Hariharpur. He conducted Vishnu Yagya in this village. A lady donated land for Ashram and Baba established the first asharam known as the Adi Ashram at Hariharpur.
